Menopause

The Menopause is a natural change in the female reproductive system that normally occurs between the ages 45 and 55, although perimenopausal symptoms may occur earlier. It is the process in a woman’s body when the ovaries stop producing the hormones oestrogen and progesterone.

Reflexology is a wonderful therapy for aiding our journey through the menopause. Symptoms can be debilitating such as: hot flushes, increased perspiration, night sweats, headaches, dizziness, mood changes, digestive disturbances, sudden weight gain, short-term memory loss and irregular periods with heavy bleeding.  With all the changes happening to the body, not surprising women can experience low self-esteem and feelings of inadequacy.

Reflexology at this time will help to regulate the peripheral nervous system, achieved by stimulating the pituitary gland, the hypothalamus, and the thymus reflex points.  It can also make some of these changes more bearable and relieve the stress and tension that can cause so many side effects.

Supporting the journey with reflexology will help put hormones back in balance and act like a process of emotional cleansing helping to relieve stress and restore harmony in the body and mind.
